“The action of these remedies is to raise our vibrations and open up our channels for the reception of our Spiritual Self; to flood our natures with the particular virtue we need, and wash out from us any fault which is causing harm. They are able, like beautiful music or any glorious uplifting thing which gives us inspiration, to raise our very natures, and bring us nearer to our souls, and by that very act bring us peace and relieve our sufferings. They cure, not by attacking the disease, but by flooding our bodies with the beautiful vibrations of our Higher Nature, in the presence of whom disease melts away as snow in the sunshine.” (Dr. Edward Bach)
A few years ago when I was wildly exploring and traveling the coast of New Zealand, I came across a very old paper book, published in 1931 called "Heal Thyself". I remember picking up this book and bringing it into my heart. These two words - HEAL - THYSELF - vibrating as a mantra often does, energy coursing through my body. This was a moment I was not able to understand or explain all these years later, until I at once began studying and experimenting with flower essences.
These colorful, sentient beings and this philosophy of emotional healing deeply resonate with me and helped me to clearly "see" from the place of my Soul, far above and beyond any limitations and beliefs I had placed on myself in this lifetime. It is an honor to share with you these gentle teachings and my lifelong love of the healing power of wildflowers.
A flower essence is a vibrational remedy of spring water infused with the essence of wildflowers through sun steeping.
This method was developed in the 1930's by Edward Bach, an English physician. Bach discovered 38 remedies, each the essence of a different wildflower that targeted a specific emotional state: Honeysuckle for Regret, Aspen for Fear, Willow for Resentment and so on. Bach felt that these negative emotional states broke down the immune system and left the body vulnerable to dis-ease.
Flower essence remedies work through the meridians in the body to enhance ones state of mind. Each essence corresponds to a virtue, or emotional imbalance, in the body that causes dis-harmonization. A suitable flower essence is methodically and intuitively chosen to address and re-balance the body. Imbalances may include mental states and emotions associated with 7 categories: (1) Fear, (2) Uncertainty, (3) Insufficient interest in present circumstances, (4) Loneliness, (5) Those over-sensitive to influences and ideas, (6) Despondency or despair and (7) Over-care for welfare of others.
"From time immemorial it has been known that Providential Means has placed in Nature the prevention and cure of disease, by means of divinely enriched herbs and plants and trees. The remedies of Nature given in this book have proved that they are blest above others in their work of mercy; and that they have been given the power to heal all types of illness and suffering," explains Dr. Bach in his book "Heal Thyself".
The 38 flower remedies may be taken individually or carefully combined into a mixture to effect a cure. As Dr. Bach notes, "All know that the same disease may have different effects on different people; it is the effects that need treatment, because they guide to the real cause." For this reason, when selecting a flower remedy or remedies, each human being is looked at from a holistic view (looking at the whole person) and so, the remedies and duration will always be different for two beings that may be experiencing similar moods and symptoms. "In treating cases with these remedies no notice is taken of the nature of the disease. The individual is treated, and as he becomes well the disease goes, having been cast off by the increase of health."
I have recently been incorporating flower and plant essences into my Shamanic Rituals and Ceremony. In Ceremony, it is possible to connect with the allies of sacred plant medicine through vibrational plant essence for deep healing and spiritual development. This is a very gentle way of experiencing these ceremonial medicines without ingesting the body of the plant itself as an herbal tonic.
My exploration into Energy Medicine has come through a deep remembering of how my ancestors of indigenous culture lived so intimately with the Earth and an understanding that these ways may be used as a therapeutic means complimentary to my Shamanic Healing practices. In Shamanic Healing we are working within the Etheric body & Astral body and with the introduction of Flower Essences we are working to support the Emotional body & Mental body. Together the states of these 4 bodies plus our physical body make up the subtle anatomy of man and inspire our Soul into Wellbeing. I am happy to offer the vibrational remedies of Flower Healing into future ENERGY MEDICINE sessions.
