Healing Foods of Mother Earth
My healing journey with foods began in Switzerland five years ago at the Paracelsus Klinik where I was following an intensive program of biological medicine including homeopathic remedies, infusion therapy, acupuncture, flower & herbal tinctures, vitamins and a vegetarian, plant-based diet high in phytonutrients and life force energy. It was here where I first learned through personal experience about the healing energy of foods. After weeks of nourishing my body with organic whole grains, raw and steamed rainbow vegetables & fruits, legumes, sheep & goat dairy, warming vegetable broths and cooling fresh juices, I began to feel my body renewing itself cell by cell. Now fully supporting my body's upbuilding forces, I realized I was simultaneously creating sacred space within myself to heal my soul and remember my truth. High in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by the sun, fresh mountain air, healing lakes and rivers, I became aware I was tuning into a much larger cosmic, healing energy. The energy of Pachamama, Mother Earth.
In truth, this was the beginning of my re-connection with Mother Earth since I was a very small child, with memories of picking wild raspberries in Pennsylvania and watching my father harvest summer squash and tomatoes from our garden. And so, the healing foods of Mother Earth are and always will be of great importance in my life and the lives of my loved ones. Perhaps it is best said by Rudolph Steiner in his book Nutrition: Food, Health, and Spiritual Development, "Our diet not only determines our physical wellbeing, but can also promote or hinder our inner spiritual development." Steiner goes onto say, "We can ask ourselves whether we make our bodies unfit for the execution of the intentions, aspirations and impulses of our lives if we become bound by and dependent upon our bodies through an unsuitable diet. Is it not possible to mould the body in such fashion that it turns into a progressively more suitable instrument for the impulses of our spiritual life? Will we lose our freedom and become dependent upon our bodies if we ignore what is the right nourishment for us? What must we eat so that we are not merely the product of what we eat?"
More recently, my studies of Nutrition and Energy Medicine are deeply inspired by my dear teacher, Dr. Linda Lancaster of Light Harmonics Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She explains, "Health is the balance between the physical body, the force fields of the Etheric, Astral and Mental bodies and their connection to the Divine. Comprised of our blood, bones, organs etc. the physical body is dense and tangible, but no less spiritual. While many of us have come to identify ourselves with this physical vehicle, it is the Etheric body (also called the Etheric Double) that gives energy to the physical form. We nourish the Etheric body by providing it with food that is enlivened with electro-magnetic energy, clean air, good water, sunlight, positive thoughts and loving feelings. Electro-magnetic energy emanates from the plant kingdom (Mother Earth) in the form of vegetables and herbs. Minerals and more importantly rare trace minerals are assimilated through the energy of the life force of the food. It is important to eat food that is imbibed with energy for good nourishment. The majority of diseases that manifest physically have their base in the Etheric body." She goes onto say, "Through the healing process, we come to understand that we have chosen physical incarnation as a vehicle for experiencing the multidimensional identity of our Spirit." Through Dr. Lancaster, my understanding of good diet, nutrition, organic/biodynamic foods, herbs and homeopathy and their connection to our higher states of subtle anatomy is expansive and worthy of exploration. Working through my intensive studies with Dr. Lancaster in Medical Radhesthesia & Radionics, Mother Earth reminds me of her words that are so simple yet profound, "EATING IS A SPIRITUAL PRACTICE."
Also worthy of mention is one of my favorite books, Be Here Now by Ram Dass where he clarifies, "Our body is our temple where we live and where we do the work of becoming enlightened. Just as certain external environments are more conductive to increased awareness than others, so it is with the inner environment - the body itself. I can be a 'clean, well-lighted place'. What we eat affects the nature of the body cells and organs and the way they function. At another level, you could say that the vibrations of anything you put into the organism modifies the vibrations of the total organism. Be concerned with the vibrations associated with the source, preparation and eating of foods."
My philosophy of nourishing with healing foods is to help individuals re-connect or more deeply connect to Mother Earth through her bounty and give them tools to help understand how they can best promote their physical health and spiritual progress. The individual then has freedom to recognize and develop their instinctive sense on which foods they consume. This empowers the individual and sets in motion the clear intention that the individual is "healing thyself".
To celebrate the Autumn season and the abundant harvest before us, I am now offering individual nutritional readings through my Healing Foods Analysis. Using the science and art of Medical Radiesthesia we will discover which foods are best for your individual constitution, uncover any food sensitivities, gain an understanding of how the electro-magnetic energy of foods help you heal and look more deeply into your relationship with foods through accessing the wisdom of your subtle anatomy. You will learn self care techniques to neutralize environmental pollution and together we will create a nutritional building program to support your physical body and spiritual development. Sessions are available remotely and in-person in Sag Harbor, NY. I am also offering individual & group plant-based cooking classes, Healing Foods of Mother Earth where we will explore the topics of - natural, healing foods that nourish you as a whole, the importance of gathering organic foods of the season from close at hand, preparing food with love and gratitude through mantra, eating with intuition, as well as hands on experience in the kitchen sharing recipes, food preparation techniques and enjoying our creations.
"And may we ever have joy and gratitude in our hearts that the Great Creator of all things, in His Love for us, has placed the herbs in the fields for our healing." (Dr. Edward Bach)
