At the beginning of my healing journey, I traveled to the countryside of Switzerland to receive alternative medicine treatments at a Biological Clinic called Paracelsus. During my extended stay, I received various healing therapies with the intent to support my physical body's natural ability to heal and regenerate. Perhaps the greatest gift I received was the correlation I made between many of the therapies and nature. It was in this moment, in the countryside, that I was inspired to re-connect directly with the Earth.
As a child, connecting with Mother Earth was a way of life, until around age six when I started school. These days, connecting with the Earth has evolved into a spiritual practice and the key therapeutic practice I use to maintain my wellbeing.
According to an article in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health called Earthing: Health Implications of Reconnecting the Human Body to the Earth's Surface Electron, "emerging scientific research has revealed a surprisingly positive and overlooked environmental factor on health: direct physical contact with the vast supply of electrons on the surface of the Earth. Modern lifestyle separates humans from such contact. The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and unwellness. Reconnection with the Earth's electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being."
"The research done to date supports the concept that grounding or earthing the human body may be an essential element in the health equation along with sunshine, clean air and water, nutritious food, and physical activity."
maggie's daily earthing Practice
I stand barefoot or lay my body directly on the surface of the Earth. I expose as much bare skin as possible or wear natural fibers such as cotton, wool, silk, in order for the electrons from the Earth's magnetic field to flow into your body. My daily treatment is between 30-60 minutes.
