Mar Harrsen is a photographer working closely with the relationship between nature and self.

Harrsen’s photographs are records of everyday life, which examine the natural world through an ethereal sensitivity. With a soft color palette and intimate subject matter, her approach is one of gentleness. She aims to document the spiritual sense, or animating force, behind all living things. From a wave folding into the sea water to a flower opening its petals to the rising sun - her works evoke a longing to know thyself beyond form. To touch the beauty of holiness.

Mar began taking photographs in the spring of 2008 in Europe after a friend gave her a hasselblad camera. The subtle process of capturing moments on film was a healing meditation into stillness and self reflection. Her expression through these photographic studies naturally became interwoven with her spiritual path.

In 2012, she self-published her first book KANOA. A body of work that presents the idea of interconnection with the five elements - sea, earth, sun, wind, and sky. It was revered internationally and distributed among independent bookstores in the USA, Japan, Australia and Europe.
